The Heart of Outreach
David Warren
When people hear the word "outreach," they often picture a large-scale event — a missions trip, a fundraiser, a campaign. And those things matter. But the heart of outreach is much simpler than that.
Outreach begins when we notice. When we slow down long enough to see the person in front of us — really see them — and respond with presence rather than programs.
Presence Before Programs
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He stopped for the one. He sat with the outcast. He touched the untouchable. His ministry was not defined by its scale but by its depth.
At Sweet Aroma, we have learned that the most transformative moments often happen in the smallest interactions — a listening ear, a shared meal, a prayer whispered over someone who has forgotten they are worth praying for.
This is the work we are called to. Not because it is efficient or impressive, but because it is faithful. And faithfulness, in the end, is what bears fruit.
