John Michael

John Michael has served as Senior Pastor of Journey Church since 2012, guiding the congregation through seasons of growth, renewal, and deepening community connection. With over 20 years in pastoral ministry, he brings a thoughtful approach to leadership that balances theological depth with practical wisdom for everyday life.

Before joining Journey Church, John served in associate pastoral roles in Ohio and Kentucky, where he developed a passion for helping people navigate life’s transitions with grace and purpose. He holds a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and completed his undergraduate work in communications at Indiana Wesleyan University.

John is known for his relatable teaching style and his commitment to creating spaces where questions are welcomed and faith is lived out in action. Outside the pulpit, he’s actively involved in local nonprofit partnerships and community development initiatives throughout the greater Indianapolis area.

He and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 18 years and have three children. When he’s not at the church, you’ll likely find John on a hiking trail, experimenting with new coffee brewing methods, or coaching his daughter’s soccer team.
